Podding Away

I said I would get around to writing a bit about the BOT podcast with guest Alfred Lehmberg and so I will. Hosted by Jeremy Vaeni, another troublemaker. What can I say though? Al and I pretty much agree on everything, at least so far as what was talked about in the podcast, so I have no bones to pick. I was happy to hear Al bringing Terence McKenna, Rupert Sheldrake and others into the conversation. It is doubtful the true nuts and bolt types will appreciate it, but I did. I also found it interesting that Al tried to explain his writing style. There is some sort of controversy over the way Al writes that I have never quite understood. I suppose poetic verse is not everyone's cup o' tea and maybe not what they expect to come across when looking into ufo subject matter, but they should be pleasantly surprised. I personally think it is much nicer than reading my flair-less babble and the artwork that goes along with it is lovely too. So what is the problem? Damned if I know. Is Al right and they just pretend not to understand it? Quite possibly at least some are pretending, not to mention faking outrage over the way things are written. Those would be the ones who understand it perfectly and just don't agree with it.

Now onto Jeremy's other podcast, Culture of Contact. Jeremy is only getting so much PR because he chose to interview two of my friends (internet friends are friends) and he did a pretty good job of it too. The Live from the Zorgies show was hilarious. Dropping by were Paul Kimball, Tim Binnall and Alfred Lehmberg. It was really funny and I mean that in a good way. The interview with Regan Lee was a bit more serious, but fun as well. I do believe that is the closest I have ever heard a person come to saying they have been abducted without actually saying it. Kudos to Regan on that! It is a thin line to walk. I was shocked to hear Regan say that she doesn't want to see a bigfoot. I would love to see a bigfoot and just assumed that Regan would too.

There you go, enough entertainment for a winter night by the fire.

Blogging and such

Both BTD blogs are now working properly. Actually there was nothing wrong with the wordpress blog. Somehow my FF browser had been minimized by a unperceivable amount and after I hit the maximize button all was fine again. Totally my fault, but it did give me an experience with WP support who are much more efficient than blogger, like a billion times more.

I thought I should mention (in case you missed it at The Debris Field) that Grey Matters is all about paranormal radio this week.

Has Internet Killed the Talk Radio Star?

I have found a new site, thanks to Annie at theusofe, the site is Radioratingz.com. This site not only covers regular radio, but also internet radio. It allows you to add your favorite internet radio shows and review them. You can also rate national shows like coast to coast. C2C isn't doing to well, so if you are a fan, you should probably drop by, rate it and say something nice. I wasn't able to do that because most nights lately I can't stand to listen to it.
I think that much of my dissatisfaction with c2c lately is because I have become spoiled by internet radio. Remember that old song Video killed the radio star? Well, I think internet has killed the talk radio stars. I no longer have to listen to guests that I am really not very interested in, just to get my esoteric radio fix. I have dozens of shows I can listen to now. Not only dozens of shows, but most all of them having better guests than c2c. Most of them also have better hosts who have actually spent time researching their guests enough to be able to ask relevant questions.
(Ian Punnett is not included in that remark since he actually reads his guests books)
Honestly, I think we are on the cusp of a real revolution. There is already much chatter about TV news and newspapers being obsolete due to the internet, but it may not be too long before radio is as well.

Show Babble

Sometimes people ask me for advice on what is the best show to listen to. Well, there isn't one.
In example, c2c has seemed boring to me for months now. They have had very few guests that I am really interested in. Tonight is different though, they have George Knapp guest hosting and Richard Dolan as guest. I am a big Richard Dolan fan, so I am really looking forward to it. That pretty much sums it up for all the shows, if you are interested in a guest or topic the show is normally good, otherwise it is boring.
It would take a really bad host to completely ruin a show with a great guest and I haven't come across a host who is quite that bad yet and I hope I never do.
Of course, we also have to take into consideration that everyone is an individual and just because I thought a show was great doesn't mean you will.
So I have no advice on which shows to listen to. The only advice I can give you is find a guest or topic you are interested in and listen to a show that is covering that.
