A couple things

First off, those on blog talk radio that may have noticed that I no longer link to their individual shows might wonder why. It is nothing personal against your show, but because you have one of those ads that people are forced to watch before being able to access your site. If you have removed that from your site, let me know and I will be happy to link to your episodes in blog posts again.

The second thing is something that I received an email from podOmatic about that they wanted me to mention -- The Paranormal Cafe. There are a few shows tagged as being the Paranormal Cafe that are actually Rogue Radio. There is a rather confusing reason for this -- The Paranormal Cafe board op somehow took over Paranormal Cafe and changed it's name to Rogue Radio. However, he did not change the url because obviously that assured him hits. Robert Simcox who was the original host of the paranormal cafe moved it to a different url on podOmatic. Robert emailed me a couple months ago to let me know that and I changed the link in the sidebar to link to the new url of the paranormal cafe, but there are a few shows tagged as PC that are actually Rogue Radio because I didn't know what was going on at the time. That will have to stay as is because it is too much of a pain in the ass to go back through them and try to figure out which is which.

Lesley,

A few things about Rogue Radio/Paranormal Cafe.
I have kept the URL for Paranormal Cafe because I've paid for that URL from day one and have since done the work of getting a sponsor to pay for the podcast while the show was still titled Paranormal Cafe.
The reason I'm still doing Rogue Radio from that URL is that I'm honoring the contract I have with that sponsor, something Rob Simcox apparently had no interest in doing. Does that mean the sponsor gets the benefit of having a fairly popular URL? Yes it does. That is where he signed on.

From 2006 I have run the Paranormal Cafe/Rogue Radio podcast site. That was day one on the net.
I like radio and I thought Rob had a good idea and was executing it poorly. I thought I could help.
He was being treated as a joke on his first station and when I moved on to a bigger station, I asked him to come with me.
He did and for nearly a year we shared duties on the show. We both booked guests, I co-hosted, and I produced and engineered the show.
I also edited the shows down for the podcasts.
I didn't realize at the time but my edits irked Rob to no end. Without them I felt the show suffered a bit being too raw and production quality-wise were iffy.
There was no good communication between the two of us and in the end he wound up complaining to management he didn't want to work with me anymore.
Management didn't want to hear that and frankly didn't want to deal with it since I was the one who brought him to the station in the first place.
He complained several times and they finally asked him to leave the station.
Since I was employed there already seperately from the show, they asked me to do something in that time-slot.
Since Rob didn't own the name/logo or anything else re:Paranormal Cafe, they wanted me to keep going with it. I didn't feel that was right so I renamed the show, and I might add, changed the format as well.
But let me be clear, I own the site. I always have. I will honor my contract with my sponsor. It's just good business. When that contract is up, I may find a new URL. But the old one will not go to Rob Simcox.
All that guy has done is whine, bitch, moan, complain, and quite frankly, slam me every chance he gets. Some of the first podcasts he posted on his 'new URL' were rants about me while he called in to another station. Wonderful paranormal podcasts.
All I ever did for him was try to help him with his show.
Now Lesley, he's got you taking a very public shot at me on a blog I used to respect.
Just because I never answered his accusations in a public forum before, doesn't mean I was conceding he is right.
I was just trying to be the bigger man.
But now he's got a mouth piece doing his work for him?
I expect more from your blog.
If you don't like my show, by all means, don't link to it.
But please stay out of a private conflict that someone with hurt feelings is trying to make public.

Thanks,
Charlie at Rogue Radio

hmmm...

I fail to see what you are so offended about.

What public shot did I take at you?

That I mentioned that you took over the show and it is no longer paranormal cafe? Was that a secret?

Was it that I said you kept the url for the hits, which you pretty much admit to in your comment? Sponsors want hits. I am sure you want hits. To my knowledge everyone likes to have hits on their site or why bother having one? Frankly, I could see no other reason to keep that url. If you take having common sense to be a shot, so be it.

My whole point had nothing to do with you, Rob or your spat -- merely that I do not have the time to go back and retag posts because a show changed it's name, changed host or whatever. Especially since nobody comes to this site searching for a show -- it is always a guest they have googled and frankly I don't think they care what show they are on.

For your information the email I got wanting me to do that was NOT from Rob.

I took offense because you said I somehow 'took over' the podcast.
No...
I've paid for the podcast since the day I started that podcast. I opened the account. It is mine.
I did all the posting and upkeep. I was responsible for content.
To say I somehow 'took it over' is not true.
Which means you are posting things here that are not true.
The fact that someone else may have taken offense at the change isn't my problem.
Podomatic has never said anything to me.
Why should they? I've been paying them since I opened the account. The person on the account with them has never changed.
So let's review:

1. You are incorrect when you say to the world that I have taken over this podcast or have somehow stolen it.

2. Your post was not just about changing the links. You went to great lengths telling people I'm some kind of thief, after hearing one side of the story from someone who you say may not even be involved. All without contacting me and at least getting my side of it.

3. Podomatic has never contacted me to tell me something is wrong with how the site is run. I can prove to them quite easily that I am, have been, and will be the owner of that site. I do not have to prove it to you, even though you publicly tell people that there is some sort of question about it.

I can take the shots. Just get your facts right.

I knew trying to answer to this garbage in public would be a mistake. I've tried to never talk this out in a public forum. It's always a losing situation.
I've always answered listeners questions via email and have been honest with them. They are what makes the show go.
Anybody has any questions feel free to email me.

Thanks for the time.

I hate when people put meaning on my words that was NOT there except in their own mind. I said you somehow took over the show because I didn't know what had went on. Somehow was suppose to convey that I did not know -- not that I was calling you a thief. In fact, I didn't even know your name, let alone claim to know what had went on with you and Rob. I have not listened to either show in over 6 months, so I was pretty much unaware of whatever petty squabble the two of you have except for hearing vague rumors (from both sides) and knowing that paranormal cafe was no longer the show at your url.

I can only assume that you have some sort of persecution complex to think the meaning of the word "somehow" has anything to do with calling you a thief. Saying someone took over something is used every day and in no way has anything to do with being a thief. When there is a new head of any company it is said that so and so took over from whoever -- it does not mean they stole the company.

I went to great length to call you a thief? Bullshit! I am a pretty blunt person -- if I had intended to call you a thief I would have done so outright.

I also never said that podOmatic contacted you or that there was anything wrong with the site. What I said was that someone from podOmatic contacted me to tell me that I had Rogue Radio shows tagged as Paranormal Cafe and that I would not be changing that. How many times to I have to say that?

However, this is the end of my commenting on this matter. I really don't care what you think the meaning of my words were or that you assume to know me well enough to give them that meaning. I do not have this site for you or any other podcaster -- it is for the listeners so they hopefully more easily find podcasts on subjects and with guests that they are interested in.

Whoa, 'bone... dude! Chill, beep-down, desalinate, desist, and otherwise unclench forthwith and with all deliberate speed!

Your commendable pride of ownership and professionalism notwithstanding, all Lesley did was report her non canted observations on a page provided to do just that; no charges were leveled or remotely implied. Too, no hints or innuendos of same. You're not dealing with Rich Reynold's here, hoss.

I appreciate where you wanted to set the record straight and our community provokes for sabers on our elbows, but your attacks and accusations here cross a needlessly complicated line.

Before an equally needless and unfortunate kerfuffle ensues you ought to step off a little and apologize, eh? There's more elevation in a cooperation, am I right?

Alfred, I'm not exactly sure what you said, but I loved the way you said it.

...So that was what was in the pipe of peace! Not that surprising I suppose.

No longer feeling the need to swing elbows or make big arm movements, eh? ...And Given Lesley's innocence of all disrespect and umbrage extant you might, here, offer her your hand?

That would be the thing to do I'd think... remembering it'd then be all lolly-pops and rainbows in a new world offering residence in even more spacious yellow submarines! I feel all warm and tingly between my toes; you?

The bottom line is that Charley is charging hos sponsors for "The Paranormal Cafe" with all the hits it was getting, and giving them "Rougue Radio" (or his verson of it). This seems dishonest and the sponsors will soon decide not to carry it.
P.S. Charley, what happened to the money you recieved for sponsors when Rob was running it? Right, Pocket'd it, Thought as much, Thievery....
Thanks from a fan of the "Real" Paranormal Cafe...
