SPECIAL NOTE FOR OUR LISTENERS: My long-time friend Allen Greenfield isn't a regular at UFO conventions, his recent radio appearances are only occasional, and his books do not reach the top of the best seller lists. But he is also one of the few truly original thinkers who has studied the UFO enigma over the years.

He decided early on that there was a connection between phenomena variously labeled as UFOs, occult, or paranormal, and that they all may result from the very same source. This idea doesn't sit well with many, who consider all of these subjects to be quite separate.

I remember, long ago, how we used to link up in New York City, usually around New Year's, and hang out in Allen's hotel suite and simply talk for hours on end. The only beverages we imbibed were soft drinks and perhaps cold water, and there was the occasional break for lunch or dinner.

During one of those sessions, we were talking about UFO sightings, and one or both of us decided that the common theory about visitors from another planet just didn't cut it. Allen took out a copy of an old, ragged paperback fantasy book entitled "The Incomplete Enchanter," a collection of two stories from legendary authors L. Sprague de Camp and Fletcher Pratt.

The basis of the story is that the protagonist is somehow transported into another dimension, where the laws of magic take precedence over the laws of physics. Now wouldn't it be interesting if another universe coexisted with ours, where beings from an advanced civilization had found the means to cross the dimensional divide?

Of course, that was only the start of it. And in this week's episode of "The Paracast," Allen Greenfield and Jeff Ritzmann deal with other important issues, such as the possible "toxic" impact of certain weird encounters. That, too, is just the beginning of a discussion that we hope will continue on the show, in your letters and on our message boards.

Peace,
Gene Steinberg
